UES is seeking a Director of Program Management to lead the company's program management function and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives and large-scale projects. This critical leadership role is responsible for ensuring that all programs are aligned with organizational goals, delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
The Director will manage a team of program and project managers, establish standardized project management methodologies, and serve as a key liaison between executive leadership, clients, and internal stakeholders. This individual will champion cross-functional collaboration, manage risk, and drive operational excellence through performance metrics, reporting frameworks, and continuous process improvement.
•Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all company programs and projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and strategic priorities.
•Develop and implement program management standards, tools, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency across all projects.
•Direct and support a team of program and project managers; oversee resource planning, performance management, and staff development.
•Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of complex, multi-disciplinary programs from initiation through completion.
•Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing programs, directs and coordinates program activities, and exercises control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of programs.
•Selects personnel according to knowledge and experience in area with which programs are concerned, such as social or public welfare, education, economics, or public relations.
•Confers with staff to explain programs and individual responsibilities for functions and phases of programs.
•Directs and coordinates, personally or through subordinate managerial personnel, activities concerned with implementation and carrying out objectives of program.
•Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is accomplished toward specified program objective and modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attain objectives.
•Collaborate with senior leadership to define program objectives, success metrics, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
•Monitor program performance, financials, and progress; provide regular reports and dashboards to executive leadership.
•Proactively identify program risks and issues; develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
•Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating and refining project management processes and tools.
•Drive stakeholder engagement, manage client expectations, and ensure effective communication across teams.
•Support change management efforts related to program implementation or organizational initiatives.
•Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to program delivery.
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
•Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in project or program management, including at least 5 years in a leadership or director-level role.
•Strong understanding of program management principles, methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile), and tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana).
•Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale, cross-functional programs with complex interdependencies.
•Exceptional leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
•Strong financial acumen and experience managing program budgets and resources.
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
•This position requires occasional travel, approximately 20% to 40% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.
•This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
•The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
•The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
•The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
