Position Overview

The Business Development Sales Representative is responsible for contacting and generating new business opportunities and
expanding client relationships in alignment with company goals. This role focuses on selling professional
engineering, testing, and environmental services by identifying prospects, cultivating leads, and managing the
end-to-end sales process. Working closely with operations, marketing, and technical teams, the representative
plays a critical role in promoting UES’s specialized solutions in environmental and earth sciences, sustainable
infrastructure, and geophysical technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute sales goals set by the Branch Manager and Regional Sales Manager and use these as guidelines
    for daily sales activities.
  • Schedule and execute face-to-face (in-person and virtual) sales meetings.
  • Support the sales and marketing teams.
  • Generate sales that meet company margin objectives by communicating with and identifying leads, referrals, and add-on
    opportunities.
  • Ensure lead times and communication quality are maintained to control and plan workflows effectively.
  • Use sales reporting and planning tools to manage time and sales efforts efficiently.
  • Maintain field presence with new and existing clients to support sales and customer development and
    cultivate referral business and relationships.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, deliver and follow-up on proposals, and complete RFPs and vendor application
    requests. 
  • Identify and qualify prospective clients. 
  • Identify and pursue major potential projects through contract execution. 
  • Assist and attend selected marketing and networking events both during the day and occasionally in the evenings and weekends. 
  • Travel locally for sales meetings with clients. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communication, Marketing, Science, Construction or related field. 
  • 3+ years of work experience, preferably in a sales, marketing or customer focused role.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good relationships at all levels, with prior supervisory experience.
  • Comfort with industry technologies, as well as standard office and collaboration software.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to deliver and communicate goals, programs, and
    solutions.
  • Highly adaptable with exceptional listening, reading, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Profiency in the use of Microsoft Office and Teams with the ability to learn additional software systems. 
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communcation and presentations. 
  • Proactive approach to sales opportunities with the ability to build relationships through a personable approach. 
  • Strong multi-tasking and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record. 

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires occasional travel, up to 50% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements.
  • Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs.
  • Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments.
  • Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a
    desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent
    communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person
    and through virtual platforms.
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office
    materials up to 15 pounds.
