Position Overview

The Geophysicist plays a critical role in supporting geotechnical and environmental projects by acquiring, processing, interpreting, and reporting on geophysical data. This position involves the use of specialized equipment and software to evaluate subsurface conditions, identify anomalies, and provide actionable insights to project teams. The Geophysicist collaborates closely with engineers, scientists, and field personnel to ensure data accuracy and to support the development of effective site characterization and remediation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform non-invasive geophysical surveys from the ground surface using a variety of geophysical methods
  • Analyze and report geophysical data
  • Coordinate with geologists, engineers, and others to integrate geophysical data with geological and engineering models
  • Assist with proposals
  • Propose improvements to research and data collection methods
  • Perform field site visits, field observations, and collect field data
  • Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in geophysics, geology, engineering or related geoscience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain Missouri Geologist-Registrant-in-Training (GRIT) and Registered Geologist (RG) licensure
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.
  • Reasoning ability and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, and diagram form.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires moderate travel, approximately up to 75% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment and in the field, requiring physical activity for extended periods in all-weather condition.
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
