UES, one of the fastest-growing AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) firms in the United States, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our corporate finance team in Orlando, FL. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute significantly to our financial operations in a rapidly expanding organization!

 

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for independently managing assigned accounts and playing a key role in month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role contributes to audits, process improvements, and may provide guidance to junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare journal entries and reconcile moderate to complex general ledger accounts (e.g., prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany accounts)
  • Lead the month-end close process for assigned entities or departments, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and audit schedules with minimal supervision in accordance with GAAP
  • Analyze income statement and balance sheet activity to identify and explain variances from budget and forecast
  • Participate in the integration of new business units or acquisitions into the general ledger and accounting systems
  • Apply GAAP standards in day-to-day accounting operations; assist with the implementation of new accounting guidance
  • Provide input and support for internal and external audits by preparing lead schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and IT to resolve discrepancies and improve data quality
  • Recommend and help implement improvements to accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting tools
  • May mentor or review the work of junior staff, supporting training and knowledge-sharing initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or progress toward certification preferred
  • 4+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or multi-entity environment
  • Public Accounting experience is Preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and hands-on experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience preparing audit files and supporting internal or external audits
  • Ability to independently manage assigned accounts and contribute to month-end close activities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Effective communicator who can collaborate across teams and explain financial concepts to non-finance partners
  • Experience mentoring junior staff or reviewing work is a plus

  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds
