The CMT Project Engineer II plays a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across construction materials testing (CMT) projects. This position is responsible for leading the technical execution of projects, overseeing field and laboratory activities, and managing project deliverables to meet client expectations and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently on complex engineering tasks—including calculations, design reviews, and technical reporting—while also supporting project planning and coordination. In addition, this role may involve mentoring junior staff and serving as a point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
● Independently execute engineering designs, studies, and technical calculations.
● Manage portions of projects or small projects from scoping through final deliverables
● Review and develop technical specifications, construction documents, and cost estimates.
● Conduct and oversee field investigations, construction monitoring, and data analysis.
● Evaluate and mitigate project risks; contribute to QA/QC processes.
● Mentor junior engineers and review their work for accuracy and completeness
● Serve as a technical liaison with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies
● Support proposal development and provide input on scopes, schedules, and budgets
● Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Construction, or Geotechnical Engineering.
● 5+ years of progressive engineering experience
● Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
● Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; travel as needed
● Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) and project documentation tools
● Solid knowledge of industry regulations, construction practices, and risk management
● Effective communication and leadership skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• This position primarily operates in a remote work environment, requiring the ability to perform job
responsibilities from a home office setting with reliable internet access.
• Work is conducted using a computer, phone, and virtual collaboration tools, with regular communication
with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
• Employees are expected to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic setting that may involve virtual meetings,
deadlines, and independent work.
• While the work environment is typically climate-controlled, employees must ensure an appropriate and
professional home office setup.
