The Senior Environmental Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects from initiation through closeout. Operating in a dynamic and technical environment, this role manages all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery to ensure outcomes align with scope, budget, and timeline, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and senior leadership, the Senior Environmental Project Manager plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to continuous improvement and business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects, from pre-construction/estimation through final closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and consultants to align objectives, manage expectations, and ensure project requirements are met.
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project
  • Conduct Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Monitor project progress and performance, tracking milestones, deliverables, and financials to identify variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee contract administration, permitting, and regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Lead project meetings, facilitate decision-making, and maintain clear, organized documentation and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, mentoring junior staff and promoting best practices in project execution and team collaboration.
  • Support business development activities including proposal development, scope definition, and client presentations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements to project management processes, tools, and workflows.
  • Act as the main point of contact for escalated issues, proactively resolving conflicts to ensure project continuity and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or PMP certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive project management experience, preferably within engineering, environmental, or construction industries.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex, and high-impact projects in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Proficient in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth knowledge of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience managing project financials, contracts, and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and regional offices as needed.
  • Self-directed, highly organized, and capable of managing competing priorities in a matrixed or decentralized organization.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
