Summary
The Forensic Engineer will be conducting forensic engineering investigations of buildings and other structures for a wide variety of problems including structural damage, roof damage, moisture intrusion, interior water damage (plumbing and other causes), settlement, other foundation problems, construction defects, general building material failures, and of course, all types of storm related damage.The ideal candidate is a reliable, trustworthy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and autonomy are valued.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs the investigation and analysis of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.
• Conducts forensic engineering investigations of buildings and other structures for a wide variety of problems including structural damage, roof damage, moisture intrusion, interior water damage (plumbing and other causes), settlement and other foundation problems, construction defects, general building material failures, and of course, all types of storm related damage.
• Experience in all common types of forensic engineering investigations is preferred, especially water damage. Being able   to pinpoint the cause and origin of water damage and establish duration is extremely important.
• Field investigations: study and determine the cause and origin of construction defects or structural failures and/or damage, building envelope failures and/or damage, as well as determine the extent and repairability of such failures and/or damage.
• Manages multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and supporting as needed to produce to client reports promptly.
• Prepare reports to document the causes of failure and/or damage.
• Follows safety procedures
• Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience:
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• A minimum of 1 year of Forensic Structural Engineering experience is required.
• Ability to climb ladders, climb/walk on roofs, in crawl spaces, and other areas of structures to be inspected
• Ability to travel 30% of the time
• Registered Professional Engineer in the state of employment, or the ability to obtain this within 6 months.
• Valid US Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
• Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a high level of ability in technical writing & analytical skills. Works requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Preferred at least 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with Vantage Point
