Overview

As a Field Engineer at UES, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality engineering and consulting services across diverse projects. You will be responsible for conducting field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and providing recommendations for project design and development. Your role will involve reviewing drawings and construction for compliance, preparing reports, and collaborating with project teams to resolve design and construction challenges. You will also assist in cost estimation, tracking project progress, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and enforce all safety protocols, guidelines, and standards for every project. Participate in pre-task planning and report any safety concerns to management.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality assurance in all project phases, ensuring adherence to industry and UES standards.
  • Conduct field investigations, research, and data collection, including geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing activities.
  • Perform site inspections, construction observations, and field/laboratory testing as required.
  • Assist in analyzing and evaluating field and laboratory data for reporting purposes.
  • Work closely with Professional Engineers, project managers, and field teams to support project execution.
  • Contribute to engineering analysis, calculations, and technical recommendations for routine and complex projects.
  • Assist in proposal development, drafting reports, and preparing cost estimates for potential projects.
  • Utilize CAD software to draft project plans and assist in design development.
  • Support engineering technicians with on-site testing, observations, and data documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and review reports, providing clear and concise summaries of project findings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental, or related field).
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively interact with project teams and clients.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, or other relevant engineering software is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position primarily works in an outdoor work environment, regularly exposed to varying field conditions, including:

• Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps, grasslands, fields, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such as sand, brush, and debris.

• Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments.

• Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions.

 

The physical requirements for this position may include and are not limited to:

• Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.

• Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.

• Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.

• Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.

• Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.

• Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
