What You’ll Do:
Manage and lead geotechnical projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Coordinate with clients, engineers, and field staff to ensure seamless project execution.
Perform technical analysis and provide solutions to complex geotechnical problems.
Oversee fieldwork, site assessments, and data collection, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Lead project teams, mentor staff, and ensure effective communication across all project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical work with competence on assignments with increasing complexity depending on experience
  • Locates, observes, and logs field explorations and activities
  • Organizes field operations and can provide oversight of field activities
  • Installs, reads, and interprets field instrumentation and performs field measurements
  • Is responsible for collecting samples and transporting them to the laboratory
  • Describes samples
  • Prepares reports on-field activities and summarizes field and laboratory data
  • Performs scientific, geologic, or engineering analyses and studies
  • Checks work for accuracy and completeness of the project
  • Checks vendors' invoices
  • Practices lose prevention techniques
  • Alerts project manager or supervisor to technical, managerial, or administrative problems arising during a contract
  • Prepares technical reports on routine projects and more challenging projects based on experience
  • Must be able to work independently on varied assignments
  • Exercises responsible judgment on technical matters within the limits of current experience level
  • May discuss technical issues with client after review and approval by Supervisor or Project Manager
  • Projects a positive image of the Firm in dealings with outside groups and clients
  • Maintains existing and develops new client relationships

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or similar is required
  • 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus but not required.
  • Proven track record of managing mid-to-large scale engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience in geotechnical site investigations, laboratory testing, engineering design, and construction oversight.
  • Experience developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and risk assessments for infrastructure, environmental, or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (ASTM, AASHTO, FHWA, ASCE, DOT, OSHA, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts.
  • Proven experience in client communication, stakeholder engagement, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting, proposal writing, and presentations.
