Summary
We are seeking a qualified Asbestos Technician to join our environmental services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting asbestos inspections, surveys, air monitoring, abatement oversight, and performing soil and groundwater sampling and inspections, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate must have prior experience with sampling protocols in compliance with FDEP regulations.
Perform field inspections and surveys for asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in commercial, residential, and industrial settings.
Conduct air monitoring and project oversight during asbestos abatement and remediation activities.
Collect and document soil and groundwater samples in accordance with FDEP and EPA guidelines.
Ensure all sampling and reporting activities comply with FDEP procedures, including completion of field logs, chain-of-custody forms, and photo documentation.
Operate and maintain field equipment, including air pumps, PID meters, and groundwater sampling tools.
Interpret laboratory results and contribute to technical reports.
Maintain safety and regulatory compliance on job sites.
Collaborate with project managers and environmental staff on site assessments and remedial investigations.
Required Qualifications:
AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector certification and current asbestos and lead-based paint certifications.
Familiarity with environmental sampling methods, including soil and groundwater, and associated data collection practices.
Working knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, FDEP, OSHA, etc.).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player.
Physically able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including walking long distances and lifting field equipment.
