UES is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader in Geotechnical, Construction Materials Testing, or Environmental consulting to manage and grow our Reno, NV office. The Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the branch, including operations, client development, project oversight, profitability, and team leadership. This individual will play a pivotal role in advancing our local presence and contributing to the broader goals of UES.
 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 
Business Leadership
  • Own and manage overall Branch P&L performance including budgets, utilization, collections, and cost control.
  • Drive business development initiatives; identify new markets and client opportunities.
  • Oversee and approve proposals, contracts, and reports within established authority and company guidelines.
  • Represent UES at industry conferences, client meetings, and professional associations.
Operational Oversight
  • Ensure projects are executed on time, within scope and budget, while meeting professional and contractual obligations.
  • Partner with safety teams to uphold a culture of safety; ensure staff training and compliance with protocols.
  • Coordinate branch fleet management with the Regional Fleet Director and Branch Fleet Manager.
People Management
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor staff across multiple disciplines.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and guide career development for team members.
  • Partner with Regional HR Director on talent management, training programs, and staffing strategy.
  • Cultivate a positive, high-performing office culture aligned with UES’s mission and values.
Strategic Collaboration
  • Participate in the Western Leadership Council (WLC) to align regional operations with UES strategic goals.
  • Contribute to sales strategies, technical innovation, and research initiatives to ensure sustained growth.
Community & Industry Involvement
  • Actively engage in at least two professional organizations, with leadership participation in one (e.g., board, committee).
  • Promote the UES brand and values within the industry and local community.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Physical Sciences.
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in engineering consulting (Geotechnical, Environmental, or CMT).
  • Minimum 5 years in a project management and supervisory role.
  • Proven experience managing a business unit with $5M+ in revenue.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License required or obtainable within 6 months.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster employee development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Nevada’s engineering market and regulatory landscape.
  • Expertise in financial forecasting, cost control, and utilization planning.
  • Experience with legal/contract review and risk management in consulting projects.
